Election Contests and Ballot Measures
June 5, 2012 California No Party Preference Primary
Note: Candidate pictures are the most current we have on file. Because
this is a past election, they may not show a candidate’s likeness at the
time of the election. Likewise, some of the links to websites, emails,
and social media may be broken.
California has a new open primary system where all candidates, except for U.S. President, are listed on the same ballot. You can vote for any candidate, regardless of what party preference you indicated on your voter registration form. Only the two candidates receiving the most votes, regardless of party preference, move on to the general election regardless of vote totals. This does not apply to candidates running for U.S. President. You will need to request a separate presidential primary ballot at the polls if you want to cast a vote U.S. President and you need to click the "for Voters" tab and click a President ONLY Primary Button to view your choices.
