Wesley Chesbro, a democrat and American politician from California, served as state senator of California's 2nd District from 1998 until 2006. On February 8, 2008 Chesbro announced that he will be running to replace term-limited Patty Berg in California's 1st Assembly District. The 1st District includes six counties south of Del Norte along the North Coast, including Sonoma County north of Santa Rosa. With the defeat of Prop 93, the term limits measure, three-term incumbent Berg cannot run for re-election and hence she endorsed Chesbro at a news conference in Eureka today. Chesbro said he will call his campaign "First District First" to highlight his commitment to put the District's residents ahead of all else. "I spent eight years in the Senate working to assure the North Coast is not short-changed because we are out-fought by the big city legislators," Chesbro said in a news release about his candidacy. Altogether, Chesbro continues to vote in and take part in Humboldt County politics from his home in Arcata, California.
